Asio drivers for Apos druid in Audirvana for dsd 512

Has anyone elese figured out how to select asio in audirvana for the apos druid? I tried downloading xmos usb dac driver control panel and I cant get the apos druid to be recognized in there for the life of me.

Right now audirvana can only recognize the apos druid going up to 256dsd in wasapi and kernel streaming and 512dsd is greyed out and asio isnt even selectable. IM confused because the apos druid is advertised as having the xmos XU316 usb chip that can support uo to 512dsd.

In my jds labs atom dac 2 I had to download drivers from its website and i was able to select asio for audirvana to recognize its full asio capabilities.

Google AI says that to I need to download stuff and then its saying I dont. but im still not seeing dsd512 selectable in audirvana.

I just want to make sure im am achieving the best potential of my druid. I like how it is so for. I can only image what it will really be like when i unlock its potential with these drivers.

Hey we don’t have this exact setup to test so we’re digging into it now and will get back to you once we have some answers :+1:

We’ve talked with the Product Team and thank you for asking this question.

The highest audio format supported by the Druid is DSD256.

While the Druid does come with the XMOS XU316 USB Chip which can technically support DSD512, it would require the addition of a higher end DSD512 compatible crystal oscillator and DAC chip to the PCB. Since we are aiming to make the Druid the best bang for the dollar we can, we have to make some decisions about cost to performance impacts with the design and those additions unfortunately push us well above the current target.

Thanks again for bringing this up as it is helpful for the community and we have updated the product copy to reflect this restriction on the Druid.

Let us know if that doesn’t answer your question or if we can help with anything else.

Thank you so much for the thorough look-through and response.

That explanation does help clear up a lot I never knew there were different xmos xu316 chips ive always assumed there were all the same.

But I must apologize.

I had done some more research and it turns out that I was using the druid all wrong anyway.

I was primarily doing what I was trying to do to use audirvana to scale up the audio in tidal.

In my delta-sigma dac(jds labs atom dac2) scaling up to dsd was a noticeable difference.

but in the druid I was told that up-scaling works against the strengths of an r2r dac so i was told to leave up scale off and I immediately noticed the quality was much better.

Im sorry I was using the druid wrong haha.

I didn’t know any of that, so I appreciate all the research and coming back to share it :+1:

Yeah for sure. Im learning as I go.

I was wondering. Do you happen to know if there are plans for a driver/software release for ASIO playback?

Currently we do not have any plans. The driver application to provide ASIO is pretty expensive - around $1500 euros for 6 months. We want to keep the Druid as value oriented as possible for the community. Since Druid can already support PCM 384K, we are not pushing for the Native DSD format.
